Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba are one of the most interesting and most exciting acts of African music today. He is considered to be the best ngoni player in the world, revolutionizing the playing of this traditional instrument and gathering ngonis with different size and pitches in his band "Ngoni ba".
The “groovy” band with the fantastic female singer Amy Sacko, inspired the audience at festivals worldwide including major festival appearances at Glastonbury, Roskilde, Fuji Rock Festival, North Sea jazz Festival and WOMAD. The BBC chose him as “best African artist of the year” and the Independent wrote: “The best rock'n'roll band in the world" after the Prize-winner’s concert in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
